Winners at the Oxford Preservation Trust Awards 2014

We were delighted to be awarded a certificate at this years prestigious Oxford Preservation Trust Awards 2014. Beech House was one of the winning projects in the Conservation Works category. A highly contended category with a number of outstanding projects. The project involved the complete restoration, refurbishment and extension of a Victorian semi detached property in the heart of Oxford. The success of the project was very much the result of a collaborative working relationship between ourselves, our clients and the architects – RIACH Architects , Oxford in conjunction with Ruggles Mabe Terrell Architecture.

Sporn Construction Awarded Silver Recognition by Investors in People

It is a remarkable achievement thoroughly deserved by all of the team who continually strive to provide the highest professional and quality of service coupled with a positive forward thinking working environment where each individual is valued and nurtured through their own development.

Construction Excellence Awards 2013

Cedar House project, Diggs Field,  has been awarded as a  finalist in the forthcoming Construction Excellence Awards 2013 in the prestigious Project of the Year category. Other finalists listed includes The Shard.The ambit of work involved an Eco renovation to a Grade 2 listed 1960’s house, the only 1960’s house to be listed in the country. The architect on the project is  Trunk Low Energy Building a multi-disciplinary Chartered Building Consultancy which specialises in the delivery of challenging new build and refurbishment projects that embed best practice low energy design principles at their core. Sporn Construction and Trunk  enjoyed a positive team relationship throughout the project due to the extensive experience in “Green Build” Sporn Construction has earned, incorporating the fabric first approach to Passivhaus construction.   The awards ceremony is due to take place in London on Thursday where the winners will be announced.

RIBA Awards 2013

Caswell House Barns, a renovation and conversion project completed in 2010, has been awarded a position on the coveted South Regional shortlist of the RIBA Awards 2013. A fantastic achievement and a testament to the whole team involved, from Architect, Client and indeed Sporn Construction. The project is already an award winner, following the clients nomination of Sporn Construction at the FMB Awards 2010. Sporn Construction Ltd were awarded the national title of  Commercial Builder of the Year in the Federation of Master Builder Awards 2010.

Oxfordshire Business Awards Winner2011 Sporn Construction Ltd is the Small Business of the Year!

The winners of the Oxfordshire Business Awards were announced at the glamorous awards dinner on Friday 17th July 2011. The final judging meeting took place at the end of May and was the longest in the awards 17 year history. Paul Lowe, chairman of the awards committee, said: “The 2011 awards have been another great success. The judging process was the most competitive and challenging in my time on the committee, and I believe that we have the strongest list of finalists ever.”

The awards dinner was attended by over 500 businesses from the Oxfordshire area and is one of the most prestigious events in the Oxfordshire Business Calendar. The full list of winners can be found at www.oxfordshirebusinessawards.co.uk.

 

Sporn Construction Ltd Awarded the Title of Small Business of the Yearsponsored by HEART FM.  The Directors and the management team were at the awards dinner and were delighted to have won the award. Robin Sporn, Director, commented “The award is recognition within the business community of the professionalism of all members of our team. The company has expanded significantly over the last 5 years, in spite of the difficult economic times. The company has a clear plan to which every member of staff contributes to. Our focus is always to deliver outstanding quality and impeccable customer service. We are not just concerned about the finished project but how we get to that point.  We operate contract management systems and procedures normally found in much larger construction companies however our personal approach gives us the ability to provide a bespoke service that larger construction companies cannot offer. Our aim is to make the journey enjoyable one.

 

Members of the Sporn Construction management team were also at the awards dinner. Mike Pearse, Site Manager, said “At Sporn Construction we are very much a team and it was fantastic to join the Directors at the awards dinner to celebrate the company’s achievement. The awards dinner was far more prestigious than I had imagined and really made us aware of just how important the Oxfordshire Business Awards truly are. What is wonderful at Sporn Construction is that we all feel a sense of ownership within the company, this is reinforced by the Directors. We are extremely proud to announce that Sporn Construction are finalists in the Small Business of the Year category of the Oxfordshire Business Awards 2011. The category is sponsored by Heart FM. It is one of the most fiercely competitive categories. The winner will be announced at the awards dinner on the 17th June 2011. We are extremely delighted to have achieved a finalist position.

National Winner at the Master Builder Awards 2010

National Winner of the Federation of Master Builder Awards 2010 – Commercial Project less than 3 million

The FMB Awards Gala took place in London on Friday 11th March 2011. There were over 700 people from the construction industry, all very hopeful that they may win the coveted national awards, including our Directors!  The competition was of an extremely high standard.

The Directors took the stage to receive the award from Phil Spencer, the presenter of Location , Location , Location.  An amazing achievement and the first time that Sporn Construction have been a National Winner. The Directors were interviewed on Radio Oxford immediately after the awards ceremony.

Robin Sporn, company Director, commented “This award is recognition of the determination of each member of our team to continually strive for perfection. I receive the award on behalf of everyone at Sporn Construction. It is embedded in the very culture of our company that it is not simply the quality of the projects that we build, but the journey to that point. I must thank our clients who nominated us for the regional awards. Their kind comments were the foundations upon which our nominations were built.  The competition was of an extremely high standard. Other projects in the commercial category included, amongst others, the conservation and restoration  of an old coal colliery, regeneration of victorian baths to create an art gallery and appartments, major refurbishment of a 166 bedroom hotel.  In total there were 10  regional finalists for each national award category, from all over the UK. The National, and Regional FMB Awards are testiment to our belief that a construction company which employs and nutures skilled craftsman, backed by professional management, will  stand out as no ordinary builder”.

Investors in People Award – Bronze Recognition
We are incredibly proud to announce that we have achieved the prestigous Investors in People Award, and further we exceeded the standard and were awarded Bronze Recognition. We first registered our committment to the Investors in People framework 5 years ago. All members of the team, from directors to staff on site have provided a positive contribution to our recent success. The award reflects  our continued investment in our staff and how our Company values each and every member of its team.
