National Winner of the Federation of Master Builder Awards 2010 – Commercial Project less than 3 million

The FMB Awards Gala took place in London on Friday 11th March 2011. There were over 700 people from the construction industry, all very hopeful that they may win the coveted national awards, including our Directors!  The competition was of an extremely high standard.

The Directors took the stage to receive the award from Phil Spencer, the presenter of Location , Location , Location.  An amazing achievement and the first time that Sporn Construction have been a National Winner. The Directors were interviewed on Radio Oxford immediately after the awards ceremony.

Robin Sporn, company Director, commented “This award is recognition of the determination of each member of our team to continually strive for perfection. I receive the award on behalf of everyone at Sporn Construction. It is embedded in the very culture of our company that it is not simply the quality of the projects that we build, but the journey to that point. I must thank our clients who nominated us for the regional awards. Their kind comments were the foundations upon which our nominations were built.  The competition was of an extremely high standard. Other projects in the commercial category included, amongst others, the conservation and restoration  of an old coal colliery, regeneration of victorian baths to create an art gallery and appartments, major refurbishment of a 166 bedroom hotel.  In total there were 10  regional finalists for each national award category, from all over the UK. The National, and Regional FMB Awards are testiment to our belief that a construction company which employs and nutures skilled craftsman, backed by professional management, will  stand out as no ordinary builder”.

Bernard Sporn, company Director commented ” Sporn construction laid its foundations in the construction industry in the 1960’s.  Over those 50 years the Company has constantly evolved, expanded, implemented new techniques, built on the traditional old skills but never lost sight of the ethos of the company  – Building Quality Together.  To receive this national award firmly establishes our company as a professional construction company which delivers outstanding quality and customer service.”

Sometimes it is also necessary to construct an alternative home for the bats.We have a very good working relationship with the Bat Conservation Trust.
